In grade school, I think every child uses Crayons to play a game or colors in a book, playing connect the dots. Starting out at dot number one and proceeding through a series of lines from dot to dot resulted in an illustration of an animal, person or object. At some point the child’s perception would kick in and he or she would be able to guess the intended image. In a more grownup fashion our perception never stopped playing these games. There are principles in design known as Gestalt Principles of perception (gestalt was first introduced in contemporary philosophy…

Apples to apples, Who ever thought of using fruit to compare values? Juxtaposing apples seems to be a common metaphor for comparing; products, ideas, equations or one object to another. Conversely, compare an apple to an orange and symbolically you have disparity in subject matter. On one hand brining apples, oranges or bananas together can make an interesting fruit salad, but on the other hand one when making accurate product comparisons using like for like is essential. Every organization is the sum of the choices it has made to this point. Every choice, however insignificant in appearance, equals results of some kind. The results may be subtle and go unnoticed or catastrophic and create organizational demise. However the results are defined they are results just the same. The extrapolation of results over a given period equals current conditions and circumstances. You can’t afford not to have effective choices in your business! Making sound choices is the lifeblood of any business. Companies struggle or prosper, live and die by virtue of the choices they make. Your company is…

History rewards difference. It is a commonly accepted belief that great minds think alike. At 90 Degree Office Concepts we believe the opposite is true. History demonstrates time and time again that great accomplishments have occurred over and over when great minds think in opposite directions of the norm. The Einstein’s the Edison’s each have thought differently from the rest of the world and produced great results. In more recent times we have John F Kennedy, who said “we are going to the moon”. We have Martin Luther King that helped change the course of racial imbalance in America. We…

Nobody really wants office furniture. In reality what’s really wanted is the results office furniture brings to the space. Undeveloped, space is just space. We have it all around us. Space has no character, no definition, no measurements and no form of reference. It is only in relationship to other things and ideas that it takes on meaning. In an office, space is defined by its relationship to walls, floors, ceilings and other architectural appointments. On an elementary level, these appointments only divide space and make it measureable. What office furniture brings to the table is a way to make…

Office environments can be liken to a garden which may be planned and cultivated with intelligence or allowed to exist on a come what may basis. But whether planned with proper cultivation or left unattended it will bring forth. If no thoughtful purpose is put into it, useless weed seeds will fall therein and continue to produce their kind. Just as a gardener plans and cultivates the ground and keeping it free from weeds to produce the fruits and flowers of his desire, so can the space of the office be developed to produce the culture, productivity, effectiveness and warmth…
